As a West Virginia native, Spencer VanHoose graduated magna cum laude from Shepherd University in 2018 with a degree in Political Science and Appalachian Studies. She studied abroad in England, Ireland, and Wales to explore her Appalachian roots, discovering a love for adventure and travel. She also served as the President of Shepherd University’s Debate and Forensics Team and won awards at the state, national, and international levels.
After obtaining her bachelor’s degree, Spencer attended West Virginia University College of Law to earn her Juris Doctorate. She found a niche interest in international law and joined the Jessup International Moot Court Team, advancing to team captain in her 3L year. She seized the opportunity to study abroad in Geneva, Switzerland, to learn about the intersection between business and international human rights law. She also worked in the Immigration Legal Clinic, where she assisted low-income individuals in removal proceedings and successfully won her first case before the Baltimore Immigration Court. Spencer graduated with honors, including an induction into the Order of the Coif for graduating in the top 10% of her class.
Following law school, Spencer moved to the Sunshine State to take the Florida Bar and work as a staff attorney for the Second District Court of Appeal in Tampa, Florida. Spencer prepared memos and conducted extensive legal research to assist the judges in criminal, civil, and family law cases. She went on to become an Assistant Regional Counsel for the 5th District of Florida, representing low-income clients in a variety of areas, including criminal and juvenile defense and probate law.
Spencer is dedicated to providing clients with the best legal representation because she believes that in all she does, she does it unto the Lord. Colossians 3:23. In her leisure time, Spencer likes outdoor adventures with her pets, Odie and Weasley.
